Massing Corn and Rice

We have been learning a little bit about the Scientific Method and have set up our lab notebooks to resemble those of real scientists!  Today we did our first lab:  Massing Corn and Rice.  Each student wrote a hypothesis, tested it through experiments and at the end of the lesson, wrote their conclusion which stated whether their hypotheses were correct.    Many of the students used goggles, digital scales, data tables and calculators for the first time!  Here are some pictures of some of our scientists at work!

Perfect Attendance!!!

Our class has had amazing attendance!!!! We had 100% for the first 3 1/2 weeks!!!  Great job!  Ms. Kelty stopped by to deliver a 'prize' to the class for coming to school everyday!  Yay us!! 😃

Math Fun!

Recently in Math, we opened up our brand new manipulatives and used them in an activity.  We were learning about the periods in the place value chart.  We were looking for patterns with the manipulatives.  I was impressed with the math conversations I heard in each group!!

Look at these beautiful faces!   These are just some of our fourth graders.  We recently made "All About Me" Newspaper posters for our Open House last week.   I took some pictures of  the students so that they could put their picture on their newspaper!  The other students opted to draw their own picture!
