Topsfield Fair

In October, our class was lucky enough to be invited to the Topsfield Fair.  It was a great day!  The weather was perfect and there were so many things to investigate and learn .  One of the best parts of the day was holding baby chicks that were only 3 days old.

Electricity ~ Museum of Science Visit

The Museum of Science presented a hands on lesson about Electricty.  We learned about static electricity, conductors and insulators and also about static electricity.  It was informative as well as entertaining!! :)

Friendship Web

"Caution Without Fear" is a program run by Campfire North Shore that comes to our class every Wednesday for six weeks.  The program's focus is on dealing with friends, personalities, conflicts and bullying.  Today's topic was on giving and receiving compliments.  The kids practiced this by sitting in a circle and rolling a ball of yarn to a classmate while giving a compliment.  The receiver had to practice accepting a compliment by saying, "thank you" and looking them in the eye.  As a result,  you can see a really neat 'Friendship Web'  was made!!

Science- Pan Balance- Measuring Mass

We have been learning about mass and how it is different from weight.  The students made these pan balances and then had to measure how many paper clips were equal to the mass of a variety of mass discs.  They reported their results on a data table and compared these results with other students in their group.

Thanksgiving Assembly 2013

Our class performed a couple of Thanksgiving poems and sang some Thanksgiving songs in front of the whole school.  Our art teacher Ms. McAndrews helped out with the aprons, collars and hats. Ms. P. the music teacher did an outstanding job, as usual, with the songs!  Thank you! :)
